Do you have a pre-bout ritual?

I get coffee from my favorite coffee shop in Fort Walton ( Main Brew) ,listen to my music and pray with Michi!  I wear a  skull sock on my right foot.

What is your pre-derby sports/skating background?

Welllll… I was a cheerleader in High school!? Does that count??  OF COURSE IT DOES!! Cheerleading IS a SPORT people!!  I skated in my garage, with my white skates and hot pink pom poms on them. :)  We were military, so not a lot of skating rinks overseas.  I did play volleyball, basketball and softball before high school.

How did you get involved with roller derby?

I hate to be a cliche’ but… I watched Whip It. I lived in Nashville at the time. I researched Nashville Rollergirls, went to some bouts, but it was just a dream… I really didn’t have the time and the distance as a single mom could not be done.  I moved to Fort Walton. Went to watch BBSD.. Went to Billy Bowlegs and Rogue X gave me a recruiting flyer and said I should come out to play… So I went to a practice and fell in love!!

Do you have any derby heroes?

Krissy Krash- because of her amazing dedication. She is no longer playing but is still helping those who do play get better at their game. She has true heart and love for the sport.

VDiva- She is an amazing skater yet very humble.

All the women who skate and raise a family. It is not easy to derby, work and raise a family. It is showing our young girls that anything is possible and women can be powerful and strong both inside and out.  We can do anything we set our minds to.

Can you share with us your biggest accomplishments on the track and off the track?

On the track: I would say my 27/5. It used to be the devil. I started working out and getting into shape and killing the BEAST!  It’s still a killer but now a little more fun. lol.

Off the track: My weight loss and  body change.   I wanted to change my game and life. I decided last year to do something about it. I started cross training. Working out and lifting weights. I lost 50 lbs and built muscle. It is still a work in progress but it always should be. Your body is yours forever, we need to take care of it.

What are your hobbies?
Derby… Derby… Wait…. you mean I should have a hobby? I don’t have time.. lol

What is your job outside of derby?

I suck blood for a living!! Really.. :)  I am an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant.

Do you have a special message that you would like to give?

We, as women in the spotlight, even those that are not, are always being watched by young girls. We have opportunities to show them how strong and powerful a young women can be, both inside and out. We are examples.

I have been through some really hard times,an abusive relationship, depression. Through all this, the thing that I had to remember is that my daughter was watching. I wanted her to grow up and not deal with the things I had dealt with. To be her own person, to be strong and know that she can do ANYTHING she sets her mind to. I had to be that Women for her to see …. So I became.

Is there anyone you would like to THANK?
I would like to thank my ever supporting family(Eric, Loren, Gavin, Ali,)  Without them.. I really could not do this sport.  They encourage me to be better and cheer me on. Tell me when I do really bad and tell me when I do well. They don’t sugar coat it because they want to see me improve.

My Derby BF Michi… Who gets me rowled up yet calms me at the same time. She is my Jesus and prayer partner. She always knows when I need that special prayer or words of encouragement. … DISCLAIMER!!! I am NOT old enough to be her MOM!!!!

God, I owe all I am to him!

Thank You,
